COME ALIVE Sydney! Had Me Calling My Husband Saying: “I Am So Sorry I Didn’t Get You A Ticket”
A Family Favourite Comes To Life
For our family, The Greatest Showman is not just a movie. It is one of those films that somehow found its way into becoming part of our household soundtrack. The kind where “A Million Dreams” pulls at your heartstrings every single time and “This Is Me” somehow manages to feel empowering whether you are five years old or forty.
So when I heard COME ALIVE! The Greatest Showman Circus Spectacular was arriving in Sydney, I knew COME ALIVE Sydney was going to be one of those shows everyone would be talking about. I will admit I was excited but also hesitant. I have seen plenty of productions that lean heavily into a musical style and while they can be great, I kept thinking, really… what could a show at the Entertainment Quarter bring? I mean, it is not Broadway. Well, how wrong could I possibly have been!
The Experience Starts Before The Show Even Begins

The magic actually starts before you even sit down. As you walk into the Entertainment Quarter there is already this strange buzz in the air and you instantly understand why COME ALIVE Sydney has been generating so much hype. You can see the giant big tops rising up ahead and immediately there is a feeling that something bigger is happening here. It feels exciting, almost electric, and that feeling only builds as you get closer.
Then you step through into the first circus tent and suddenly you are not simply arriving at a show anymore, you are stepping into another world. Performers greet you immediately and it almost feels as though you have wandered backstage into the artists’ warm up area. There are mock dressing spaces, vintage carts that look like they have rolled straight out of an old circus movie, performers juggling around you and little details everywhere pulling you into the experience.
There was also this rotating lantern style light installation with tiny metal cut outs that scattered patterns across the space while circus music played through the tent. The whole atmosphere sat somewhere between slightly eerie and completely captivating in the best possible way. Around you are popcorn stalls, drinks and food kiosks where you can stock up before entering the main arena.
Entering The Big Top Magic
Then you step through into the COME ALIVE Sydney big top dome. Hanging in the centre of the stage is a glittering costume suspended above everyone and immediately you know something big is coming. The scene is set perfectly and you can feel the anticipation building around the room.
When the show begins it becomes act after act of spectacular performers, incredible vocals and constant movement. There was never a moment where your eyes were not drawn somewhere. The Ringmaster gave major Hugh Jackman energy and absolutely owned the room from the moment he stepped on stage. Alongside him were four incredible vocalists who created this almost surround sound experience throughout the performance, bringing all of the songs we already know and love to life.
There Is Never A Dull Moment

If you are wondering whether children will stay engaged, trust me on this one because there was always something happening. If the main performers were dazzling overhead then the carnival dancers were moving through the crowd keeping the energy alive. If you looked one way there were aerial acts soaring above and if you looked another way there was another performance unfolding. There was genuinely never a dull moment and the pace of the show meant there was always another surprise around the corner.
I took my nine year old daughter and she was completely in it from start to finish. She was clapping, cheering, singing along and absolutely mesmerised. If you are wondering whether COME ALIVE Sydney is suitable for kids, my nine year old is your answer.
By the end the entire COME ALIVE Sydney audience was on their feet giving a standing ovation and the crowd participation was exactly the kind you want. Not the awkward “please don’t pick me” type of audience participation, but the kind that happens naturally because people are genuinely caught up in the experience. The Ringmaster and vocalists had everyone clapping and singing along to favourite songs and you could physically feel the energy in the room building.
The Call I Made Afterwards Says Everything
Then something happened that honestly surprised me. As soon as I walked out I called my husband and my first words were, “I am so sorry I didn’t get you a ticket.” I had genuinely thought staying home with our almost four year old was the better option, but I was completely wrong because she would have loved this too. My second call was to my best friends saying, “Right team, we are grabbing the kids and doing a night out.” I do not usually do things twice. I am the kind of girl that says, “That was great, but I have seen it now.” Not this – I can’t wait to go back again! If you are looking for the best family show in Sydney right now, COME ALIVE Sydney is it.
Final Verdict: Goal Achieved

If the goal was to bring The Greatest Showman to life then they absolutely nailed it. If the goal was to have the audience Come Alive, connected and buzzing with energy then goal achieved. From spectacular vocals to phenomenal acts and an atmosphere that somehow makes you forget reality for a couple of hours, COME ALIVE Sydney completely won us over and honestly, we would absolutely go again.
