Description

Guzman y Gomez (GYG) was founded in 2006 by Americans Steven Marks and Robert Hazan, who sought to introduce authentic Mexican street food to the Australian market. They opened their very first location on King Street in Newtown, a vibrant suburb known for its diverse culinary scene. GYG quickly gained a loyal following for its commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients, traditional cooking techniques, and a fast-casual dining experience. The brand’s focus on ‘clean eating’ and sustainability has set it apart in the fast-food industry. From burritos and tacos to nachos and enchiladas, everything is prepared using real ingredients and authentic recipes. What started as a single shop in Sydney has now expanded into a global franchise with locations across Australia, Singapore, Japan, and the United States. Despite its massive growth, the Newtown original remains a symbolic heart of the company. GYG continues to champion Mexican culture through its vibrant store designs and community involvement, proving that fast food can be both healthy and culturally authentic.
