2026 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year Exhibition

Head to the Australian Museum for a free exhibition celebrating the very best in nature photography from across Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and New Guinea. Opening Saturday 12 September, the 2026 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year showcases winning and standout images chosen from 2,129 entries submitted by 501 photographers across 17 countries.

Expect striking scenes of wildlife, landscape and a changing natural world, from a critically endangered green sawfish weaving through sea turtles in the Pilbara, to royal penguins startled by a giant elephant seal, a Tasmanian devil caught mid-fight for survival, a whimbrel outrunning the tide with a crab at Sydney’s Long Reef Aquatic Reserve, and an aerial shot of flame-like tidal patterns across a WA sandbank.

A great free outing for families, art lovers and budding photographers alike. On display until 14 February 2027.
