About the event

Make every stroke count this November with SWIM for Sick Kids, proudly supported by dual Olympian and mum of four, Elka Whalan. Whether you are an occasional splasher or a seasoned lap swimmer, you can help provide vital accommodation and care for families with seriously ill or injured children staying at Ronald McDonald House Sydney (RMH Sydney).

Starting November 1, take on the water and fundraise over 30 days to keep families close when they need it most.

Choose Your Challenge:

  • Beginner (3km): Perfect for recreational swimmers looking to build a healthy routine.
  • Intermediate (15km): Ideal for regular swimmers wanting to push their endurance.
  • Advanced (36km): The ultimate distance for dedicated aquatic athletes ready to go the distance.

Why Your Laps Matter:

When a child faces a critical illness or injury, life is turned upside down. RMH Sydney provides a home away from home for families living 100km or more from Sydney Children’s Hospital. Your fundraising directly funds:

  • Essential accommodation keeping families under one roof during hospital stays.
  • Access to RMH Family Rooms at Sydney Children’s Hospital and Wollongong Hospital for hot showers, a real bed, and nutritious meals during long treatment days.
  • The RMH Learning Program, offering up to 40 hours of free one-on-one tutoring, educational assessments, and speech or occupational therapy to ensure children don’t fall behind.

Join the Movement: Sign up today to receive your free official swimming cap in your welcome pack and start rallying your supporters before we kick off on November 1.
