Editorial Preview: Beau Ryan & Bondi Lifeguards Dive Into SpongeBob’s Biggest Adventure Yet
If your kids are already counting sleeps until Boxing Day, here’s another reason they’re about to lose their tiny minds: SpongeBob is back — and this time, he’s bringing some very familiar Aussie faces with him.
In a seriously fun local twist, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants has cast Beau Ryan as Coach Tuna, along with Bondi Rescue lifeguards Quinn Darragh, Michael Jenkinson, Daniel McLaughlin, Jake Nolan and Gavin Stevenson as a crew of chaotic pirates. Yes — our real-life beach heroes are officially heading to Bikini Bottom.
Parents, this is the crossover we didn’t know we needed.

From behind-the-scenes footage to the boys prepping for their big cinematic debut, the energy is pure Australian chaos-meets-cartoon magic. Kids will recognise the characters. Adults will recognise the accents. And everyone will recognise the sheer joy of SpongeBob doing what he does best — finding trouble, friendship and adventure at the bottom of the sea.
The new film follows SpongeBob on his biggest quest yet: proving his bravery to Mr Krabs by chasing down a mysterious ghost pirate — The Flying Dutchman — in a deep-sea adventure that’s full of heart, humour and nostalgia for every parent who grew up on Krabby Patties.
With a blockbuster cast including Ice Spice, George Lopez, Sherry Cola, Regina Hall and Mark Hamill (yes, really), plus the OG SpongeBob voices we all know and love, this is shaping up to be the must-see family movie of summer.

Catch Beau Ryan, the Bondi boys and the entire Bikini Bottom crew when The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants splashes into cinemas this Boxing Day.
