Heide Museum of Modern Art

Founded in 1981, Heide Museum of Modern Art is one of Australia’s most unique cultural destinations, located on a lush sixteen-acre site in Bulleen. Originally the home of art patrons John and Sunday Reed, the museum served as a gathering place for the Heide Circle, a group of influential modernist artists including Sidney Nolan and Albert Tucker. Today, the museum comprises three distinct gallery spaces—Heide I, Heide II, and Heide III—each offering a different perspective on modern and contemporary art. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and a significant sculpture park, Heide provides a peaceful retreat where visitors can explore the intersection of art, architecture, and nature. The museum hosts a rotating calendar of exhibitions featuring both historical and contemporary works, alongside educational programs and a popular café.
