National Science Week 2026 Sparks Curiosity at Hurstville Library

Get ready to play, explore and discover at Hurstville Library this National Science Week 2026, Australia’s biggest annual celebration of science and technology. On Saturday, 15 August 2026, budding scientists and curious minds of all ages are invited to a full day of hands-on workshops and activities.

This year’s theme, “Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All,” puts curiosity and discovery front and centre. Delivered as part of the Inspiring Australia NSW initiative, the program brings the theme to life through interactive experiences with plants, technology and even food.

Activities on the day include:

• Storytime Science: Tiny Wonders
• Sensational Succulents Workshop by Hort4Kidz
• Virtual Gardenscape with Nested Realities
• Tabletop Discoveries by Children’s Discovery

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg is encouraging families to get involved, saying there’s something for everyone, whether it’s discovering new ideas, trying a hands-on activity or simply exploring together.
