Poss & Soss: From Sensitive Skin to Stylish Staples

Like many great businesses, Poss & Soss started with a parenting problem that just wouldn’t go away. For co-founder Simona Stirling, the moment came when her daughter began breaking out in rashes after wearing clothes made with polyester.

“I struggled to find premium, stylish kids’ clothing made from organic or 100% cotton,” Simona recalls. “So much of what was on the market used polyester, and I started noticing a clear link between those fabrics and my daughter’s sensitive skin. That was the ‘aha’ moment. We knew there had to be a better option, so we created Poss & Soss: a label built on high-quality, skin-friendly fabrics that are just as cute as they are gentle.”

Their mission aligns with a bigger cultural shift among parents: the move toward low-tox living. From swapping out plastic lunchboxes to switching to natural cleaning products, families are now looking for safer, more sustainable options across every part of daily life. Poss & Soss taps into that same philosophy — reducing exposure to synthetic fabrics and harsh dyes while creating pieces that are kinder to children’s skin and the planet.

Clothes that last longer than the toddler phase

Parents know the pain of buying a gorgeous outfit only for it to shrink, fade, or lose shape after a few washes. Simona and her husband Tom were determined their pieces would be different.

“We go through a huge number of samples before signing off on a final product. Every sample is put through the washing machine multiple times to check how it wears, whether colours run and that it keeps its shape,” she explains. “And of course, the ultimate test is with our own kids — from spaghetti spills to endless play, the clothes always come out looking fresh. My kids are still wearing pieces from 18 months ago, and they’ve truly stood the test of time!”

The cheeky collection that went viral

Poss & Soss hit another level when their Cheeky Soss collection exploded online, racking up millions of views and thousands of new customers.

“Parents really connect with the playful sayings like Cheeky Chops, Cino Time, and Silly Sausage,” Simona says. “There’s a sense of nostalgia in those phrases. Combined with bold colours and premium fabrics, it just struck a chord. It reminds parents of their own childhood while giving their little ones something fresh and fun to wear. The response has blown us away — in the past few months we’ve been growing by more than 80% month-on-month.”

Made to be passed down

Unlike fast fashion, Poss & Soss is built on the idea of longevity. Pieces are designed to be worn, washed, and passed down again.

“That philosophy is really at the heart of Poss & Soss,” Simona says. “There’s something so special about the idea of seeing your child wear a piece you love, and then one day your grandchild wearing it too. That sense of longevity and meaning is exactly what we aim for as both parents and as designers.”

It’s also part of a bigger movement toward buying less, but better. Low-tox and slow fashion choices help families cut back on waste and invest in pieces that align with a healthier, more sustainable home environment.

Must-haves for every wardrobe

So which Poss & Soss pieces are the ones parents rave about most?

“For girls, it has to be our Flares,” says Simona. “The Heart Flares and Stripe Flares are standouts — they’re iconic Poss & Soss pieces because they’re so versatile and pair with everything.”

For boys, she highlights Lemon Twist: “The knitting technique, the colour combination, and the fit make it truly one-of-a-kind. Parents tell us they’re constantly stopped and asked where it’s from — and that just makes it all the more rewarding.”

The feedback that fuels it all

While viral growth and bestsellers are exciting, one story stands out most for Simona.

“A mum whose little girl was going through chemotherapy told us she bought our Heart Tie Up Cardigan and Stripe Flares in Berry. She said even in such a difficult time, the outfit brought a smile to her daughter’s face — and even the nurses couldn’t stop commenting on how cute she looked. Hearing that it brought them joy honestly brought a tear to my eye. It was such a powerful reminder of why we started Poss & Soss in the first place.”

Building a village

Looking ahead, Poss & Soss is leaning into community as much as design.

“Our Poss & Soss Village Facebook group has become such a special space where parents share feedback on new designs and upcoming launches,” Simona says. “We love co-creating with our customers. Having such an engaged community is incredibly inspiring, and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us next.”

From sensitive skin struggles to a fast-growing brand with a cult following, Poss & Soss is proof that kidswear can be both practical and playful — part of a bigger low-tox lifestyle movement that’s changing how parents shop, live, and dress their kids.
