SYDNEY’S ‘SLEEPING CITY’ COMES TO LIFE FOR ROOKWOOD HERITAGE DAY

A free community day at Rookwood Cemetery on Sunday 13 September, opening up parts of this 1867 historic site rarely seen by visitors. Highlights include behind-the-scenes crematorium tours, a live grave digging demonstration, the Dead Famous Tour exploring notable burials like Louisa Lawson and David Jones, Sydney’s forgotten funeral railway story, the restored Frazer Mausoleum, vintage hearses, stonemasons at work, a trackless train, live music, food and activities for all ages.
