Speech pathology – what to expect from your first session!

Are you concerned with your little ones speech development? Every child learns and develops at different speeds. What we love about Dr Jenny Blum is how she makes every little one and the parent feel at ease.

Your first appointment is as you would expect from most other medical appointments. You have your standard consent forms to fill, but you will also have some questions about your concerns. Don’t worry there is no right or wrong answer. All your friendly therapist is looking for here to understand more about your child’s family and their development.

They will look at milestones from birth. Then, Dr Jenny will test your child’s speech and language using a scientific approach. This might sound scary but do not fear as we have so much fun by using lots of toys. Dr Jenny is super patient and kind and as you would expect from having over 20 years experience she knows all the tools and techniques to make even the shyest of kids open up.

After your first session, which usually takes about an hour then Dr Jenny will provide you with a detailed report on her findings. As well as a referral for the doctor and/or school if required.
