The Easter Bunny Is Coming… But So Are the Sugar Bugs!

Easter is just around the corner, and we all know what that means—chocolate bunnies, sugary eggs, and enough sweet treats to send the Easter Bunny into a sugar coma. While we’re all for indulging in a little (or a lot) of Easter magic, there’s one thing parents dread: the post-chocolate sugar crash… and the potential sugar bugs setting up camp in our kids’ teeth.

Did you know that almost half of Aussie kids aged 5–10 have experienced tooth decay? Yikes. And with Easter bringing an all-you-can-eat chocolate buffet, it’s the perfect time to rethink our little one’s brushing routine.

That’s exactly why we were excited to try the new Ordo Squishmallows Sonic Kids Toothbrush—a toothbrush designed to make brushing fun, effective, and way less of a battle. And after putting it to the test with both Arcadia and Aurora, I can confidently say this might just be the Easter essential that outlasts the chocolate stash!

Meet the Squishmallow Squad!

Ordo has teamed up with Squishmallows to turn a daily chore into a daily delight. Kids can now choose their favourite cuddly buddy—Cam, Patty, or Samir—to help keep their teeth sparkling clean. Because let’s be real, getting a toddler to brush their teeth is often as challenging as convincing them that bedtime is a good idea.

When I showed Arcadia her new toothbrush, her face lit up with excitement. She clutched it like a new toy, which is already a win in my book. Meanwhile, Aurora—being the big sister—immediately wanted to claim her own. We’ve tested plenty of kids’ toothbrushes, but this is the first time they’ve actually been eager to brush without the usual back-and-forth negotiations.

The Tech Behind the Fun

This isn’t just a cute toothbrush—it’s got dentist-approved sonic power to ensure those post-Easter sugar bugs don’t stand a chance. Designed for kids aged 4+, it grows with them through different brushing stages, with modes that adapt from early years through to tweens.

What Makes It So Effective?

  • Three brushing modes to suit every stage of their dental journey
  • Audio & haptic feedback to guide brushing time
  • Progress lights for extra encouragement
  • Soft bristles that are gentle on little teeth and gums
  • USB-C charging (because no one has time for fiddly batteries)
  • An antimicrobial travel cap for hygiene on the go

And the best part? It comes with two brush heads:

  • Oval brush head for a deep clean while still being gentle on gums
  • Round brush head for smaller mouths, perfect for getting kids into a great brushing routine from an early age

Having both brush heads means it adapts as they grow, so we’re not constantly replacing entire toothbrushes every few months.

Taking It Everywhere—Literally

If there’s one thing Arcadia and Aurora love, it’s taking their favourite things wherever they go. And, to my surprise, this toothbrush has been no exception.

Arcadia insists on bringing it in the car, and I’ve caught her “brushing” her dolls’ teeth with it more than once. Meanwhile, Aurora—who usually needs a reminder to brush before school—now races to the bathroom, proudly announcing she’s brushing with “Squishmallow power!”

Even when we visited their grandparents for the weekend, both girls packed their toothbrushes without me needing to remind them. If that’s not proof this toothbrush has turned brushing into something fun, I don’t know what is!

Turning Brushing Battles into Brushing Wins

We all know the struggle—pleading, negotiating, and sometimes just giving in because bedtime battles are real. But when brushing time feels like playtime, kids are far more likely to build healthy habits that stick. And let’s be honest, anything that stops a toothpaste tantrum is worth its weight in gold.

The gentle vibrations and fun lights add an interactive element, making it feel like a game instead of a chore. The haptic feedback even gives them a little nudge when it’s time to move to a different section of their mouth—so they’re actually brushing properly, not just doing a quick swirl of toothpaste and calling it a day.

The Easter Treat That Keeps on Giving

This Easter, while the kids are munching on their chocolate eggs, parents everywhere will be silently dreading the sugar overload. But instead of worrying about cavities, why not add a Squishmallows Sonic Kids Toothbrush to their Easter basket?

Unlike chocolate, it won’t disappear in a day (or before breakfast, if they’re anything like my kids), and it’ll make brushing fun long after the Easter Bunny has hopped away.

Arcadia and Aurora are officially obsessed, and if it makes my life easier while keeping their teeth healthy, I’m on board too.
