Kids Club 2026: Funky Fruit Sculpture

Ready to get those hands messy for the sake of high art? The Art Gallery of New South Wales is inviting your 5-to-8-year-olds to the Naala Nura building for a morning of serious (and seriously fun) sculpting. This ‘Funky Fruit’ workshop takes inspiration from Mechelle Bounpraseuth’s incredible ceramic exhibition, ‘Sou Sou,’ which turns everyday supermarket staples into vibrant gallery pieces. Your little ones will learn essential hand-building techniques to pinch, coil, and smooth their way to a ceramic masterpiece of their favourite fruit or veggie. It’s a fantastic way to develop fine motor skills and spatial awareness while surrounded by world-class inspiration. The session is fully supervised by professional art educators, meaning you can take a breather and browse the Archibald Prize portraits or enjoy a quiet flat white at the gallery cafe. It’s tactile, creative, and a brilliant introduction to the gallery scene without any of the ‘don’t touch’ stress. Just a heads up—these Kids Club tickets are more sought after than a shady spot at the SCG, so be sure to book your spot early!

Enjoyed the read? This is just one piece of the puzzle.
