Cirque du Soleil Is Bringing KOOZA to Sydney and It’s Australia’s Last Chance to See It

If your family calendar is already starting to fill up as we hurtle towards the end of the year, here is one Sydney date you might want to circle now. Cirque du Soleil is bringing KOOZA to Sydney from 17 October, setting up its famous Big Top at The Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park for the final Australian stop of its 2026 tour.

After seasons in Melbourne and Brisbane, Sydney is officially Australia’s last chance to see KOOZA before Cirque du Soleil packs up the Big Top and says goodbye to Australia for the year. And if you have kids who think they’ve seen some pretty impressive tricks at gymnastics, prepare for them to reconsider.

This Is Circus Turned All the Way Up

KOOZA brings Cirque du Soleil back to its circus roots, combining huge acrobatic performances with clowning, comedy, music and the kind of acts that have you watching through your fingers while your children repeatedly ask, “HOW DID THEY DO THAT?” Cirque describes it as a “circus in a box”, but that little box contains some seriously big performances.

The production explores fear, identity, recognition and power through a mix of extraordinary physical performances, humour and storytelling. For families, though, part of the appeal is wonderfully simple. It is colourful, funny, spectacular and packed with the sort of moments that don’t require kids to sit through endless dialogue to understand what is happening. There are gravity-defying acrobatics, huge physical feats and plenty of clowning, making it the kind of live show that can work across different ages.

More Than 10 Million People Have Already Seen KOOZA

KOOZA might be arriving back in Australia in 2026, but this production has been travelling the world for almost two decades. It premiered in Montréal in 2007 and has since been seen by more than 10 million people across more than 5,500 performances in 71 cities and 23 countries.

The Sydney production features an international cast of 53 artists from 20 nationalities, alongside six live musicians and two singers performing at every show. Even the soundtrack is an experience in itself, blending 1970s funk, orchestral arrangements and traditional Indian music, all performed live each night. So when the kids inevitably ask whether any of it is recorded, you can impress them with the answer.

Then There Is the Big Top

For kids who have never experienced Cirque du Soleil under the Big Top, getting there is part of the fun. This is not simply walking into another theatre. The KOOZA Big Top seats 2,500 people, stands 56 feet high and stretches 164 feet across. The entire Cirque site covers around 17,000 square metres and takes seven days to build before audiences even walk through the doors.

Behind the scenes, the numbers get even crazier. KOOZA features more than 175 costumes, 160 hats and over 1,200 handcrafted costume pieces created in Cirque du Soleil’s Montréal workshop. The production itself travels with more than 120 people, including performance medicine specialists, before the additional local cast and crew needed to bring the show to life. Try explaining that to the kids next time they complain about packing an overnight bag.

Sydney Is the Final Australian Stop

Cirque du Soleil has had a huge few years in Australia. LUZIA broke Australian sales records in 2024, followed by the national tour of CORTEO, and now KOOZA is taking over the Big Top for its final Australian season of 2026.
