Vivid Sydney 2026 – Light Walk

Right, listen up because the world’s biggest festival of Light, Music, and Ideas is about to turn Sydney into a literal neon wonderland, and you’d be stark raving mad to miss it. From late May, the CBD transforms into a giant outdoor gallery that’ll make your kids’ eyes pop out of their heads. We’re talking massive projections on the Opera House that look better than a Sunday roast, and light walks that stretch from Barangaroo all the way to the Rocks. It’s the perfect excuse to rug the little tackers up in their puffiest jackets and beanies for an evening stroll that actually feels like an adventure. Avoid the weekend crowds if you can, grab a hot chocolate from a pop-up stall, and prepare for the drone shows which are basically wizardry in the sky. It’s free, it’s outdoors, and it’s the one time of year when Sydney looks even more glamorous than a kookaburra in a tuxedo. Don’t forget to charge your phone—you’re going to take five hundred photos and four hundred and ninety-nine of them will be blurry, but the memories will be top-shelf Aussie gold.
