Crayon rubbings đź–Ť
Such a fun activity that the whole family can enjoy! The best thing about this activity is finding the items to make the most amazing crayon rubbings! Here are just a few ideas of normal household goods you can use to get your creative flair started:
Inside surface ideas: colander, sieve, calculator, sand paper, coins, textured couch cushion, duplo just to name a few.
Outside surface ideas: leaves, rocks, play equipment, balls, pavings, render on the side of house and bricks all make excellent crayon rubbings. The list of rubbing objects and items really are endless so let’s get busy creating!
We currently face such isolating times, where more often than not we cannot see loved ones like grandparents so easily. So why not get creative you use your rubbings to make a card, or art piece which can be given as a gift for a loved one to let them know you are thinking of them.
For the multitasking parents out there here is a list of other activities you can do at the same time as your rubbings.
1/ In today’s rubbing activity Indy used crayons to rub over the coins. Please note you don’t need to use just crayons, you can also use pencils, chalk, pastels, charcoal just to name a few alternative options.
2/ We also used the coins as an opportunity to practice counting, addition and subtraction.
3/ You could also use this as a time to teach, learn, practice coin recognition.
