Will our Ski Resorts be open in time for the season?!

Exciting news for those of you who were worried you’d miss the ski season! Thredbo and Perisher ski resorts have announced they will be opening for most of the season in 2020! They’re open for both skiing and snowboarding – and we can’t wait to head down! Of course, this won’t come without some new measures in place. Here’s what we know so far:

Thredbo will be open for business on June 22, and Perisher will open June 24. It’s still a very uncertain time for both resorts, with not much information available. It’s likely that some lifts and runs may have to be closed or limited. Please ensure prior to booking any accommodation that you check availability for ski passes!

In order to maintain social distancing, lifts will be limited to two people per cabin or quad chair, and one person per T-Bar. Both have also relaxed their refund policies to make it more flexible for customers.

Extra Measures:

On top of these changes, both resorts have promised to:

  • Exchange cleaning activities to ensure more frequent cleaning
  • Increase the availability of hand sanitiser
  • Advise employees to not come to work if feeling sick
  • Continue to monitor the situation and make necessary calls regarding the opening or closing of parts of the resort.

Thredbo have also provided some more information about what services and activities will be closed at the beginning of the season. These include group lessons, the leisure centre, terrain parks, night skiing and school holiday activities. They’ve mentioned that some of these closures may be temporary.

We can’t WAIT to get ourselves down for part of the season – and at the rate we’re going, it’s looking very possible!

Head to the Thredbo or Perisher websites to check out the latest updates as they work with the NSW premier on a plan that allows us to ski safely. We’ll see you on the slopes!
